EU Online Operators reach out for software providers

The online gambling operators are getting ready for the legalization of online gambling in some EU states, by reaching out to software providers. News comes from Spain, Greece and Denmark.

Microgaming, the world’s leading software provider for online gambling has recently signed a contract with CIRSA, which is Spain’s well-known online operator. CIRSA was looking for a B2B partner now that legalization is very close, and chose Microgaming for its vast experience and quality games. Microgaming will provide online casino, poker and bingo software for CIRSA.

Statements say that CIRSA is delighted to work with Microgaming and offer its players the best games in the world. Same goes for Microgaming, after its CEO, Roger Raatgever showed his satisfaction after the contract’s signing. Microgaming is seeking to turn CIRSA into a complete online gaming shop. Microgaming is already providing software for some new online operators in Italy and France.

The stated owned monopoly in Greece, OPAP, has been offered many advantages, including an extension of its contract until 2020. OPAP’s contract with Intralot ends in the middle of 2012, therefore the monopoly must call for tenders of the contract. So far, OPAP has received responses from two suppliers. One is Intralot and the other is GTECH.

This selection is crucial for the future of OPAP with video lotto and online betting as primary basis. OPAP has agreed to pay €935 millions to the government for an exclusive license to operate 35,000 video lotto machines.

In Denmark, Sportingbet PLC has decided to acquire the Danish online betting operations SHL, Danbook Limited and Scandic Bookmakers Limited through its subsidiaries Sportingbet Holding Limited and Interactive Sports Limited.
